Qualitative test to aid in the detection of a platelet dysfunction due to aspirin ingestion as well as a functional assay to determine if patient sample is within therapeutic range for aspirin therapies.

Preferred Specimen
Discard tube required before drawing. Two Greiner 3.2% Sodium Citrate (light blue top) 2.7 ml partial fill tubes. Vacuette blue cap tubes have a white inner ring on top of a dark gray stopper. Vacuette blue caps tubes also display a large arrow (►) on the side of the test tube to indicate the partial fill line.
Minimum Volume
Discard tube required THEN 2 Greiner vacuette 3.2 % Sodium Citrated blue cap 2.0 mL partial fill tubes.
Instructions
Use a 20 or 21 gauge needle.
Draw 3.2 % sodium citrated light blue top tube discard tube first followed by 2 Greiner vacuette 2.7 ml blue top tubes.
Mix 5 times after collection.
Once mixed immediately place blue top tubes into gray foam tube holder strip and maintain standing upright at all times at room temperature.
