Cyanide, Blood

Test Summary

Toxic syndromes are rapid and include flushing, headache, dizziness, and tachypnea that may progress to respiratory depression and death. 80% of cyanide is converted to thiocyanate. Administration of sodium nitroprusside contributes to the total body pool of cyanide and complicates interpretation.
