Aspergillus Antigen, EIA, Serum

Test Summary

The Aspergillus EIA is used for the detection of galactomannan antigen in serum. The Aspergillus EIA is an aid in the early diagnosis of invasive aspergillosis. This assay is to be used and test results interpreted in conjunction with other conventional diagnostic procedures such as microbiological culture, histologic examination of biopsy samples and other signs and symptoms for detection of Aspergillus infection.

2 mL serum collected in a serum separator tube (SST)

Instructions

Serum should be collected in a plastic SST tube and spun to separate from the clot. Care is required to avoid contamination of specimens with mold during collection, processing, and shipment.

Note: This assay has not been evaluated for use with plasma, urine, or CSF. For Bronchoalveolar lavage/wash, please use test code 90376-Aspergillus Antigen, EIA, BAL.
