Test Summary

Factor VII (7) deficiency is inherited in an autosomal recessive fashion, affecting males and females equally. The deficiency is usually severe. In addition to spontaneous nosebleeds, patients may experience bleeds in the stomach, intestines and urinary tract. Women may have severe menorrhagia. Head bleeds and muscle bleeds have also been reported. Patients with less than 1% Factor VII activity experience similar symptoms to hemophilia.
