Helicobacter Pylori Antibody

Test Summary

Helicobacter pylori is a major cause of peptic ulcers. It has also been associated with increased risk of patients developing gastritis and gastric adenocarcinoma. The presence of IgG antibodies to Helicobacter pylori in a patient's serum indicates that they have been exposed to H. pylori at some time in the past. It does not indicate current infection. To detect active infection, tests such as Helicobacter pylori Stool Antigen or H. pylori Urea Breath Test may be used.
