Centromere IgG Antibody

Test Summary

Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Immunoassay (ELISA). Centromere Antibodies are recognized as a serological marker of a form of Systemic Sclerosis or Scleroderma that is commonly referred to as Crest Syndrome. Patients with Centromere Antibodies tend to have a more benign form of Scleroderma with less systemic involement and these patients tend to produce no other Antinuclear Antibodies including SCL-70.

Minimum Volume

0.5 mL Serum

Instructions

SST or Red top; Avoid hemolysis. Invert a minimum of 5 times, then allow to clot in an upright position for 30 minutes. Centrifuge the tube for at least 10 minutes. Keep tightly stoppered.
