Test Summary
Sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) is the blood transport protein for testosterone and estradiol. SHBG concentrations are increased in pregnancy, hyperthyroidism, cirrhosis, oral estrogen administration and by certain drugs. Concentrations are decreased by testosterone, hypothyroidism, Cushings syndrome, acromegaly and obesity.
