Preferred Specimen

FLUIDS: 2 mL of fluid in Sodium Heparin (dark green top) tube to prevent clotting and keep at room temperature. (minimum 2 mL)
CSF: 2 mL keep refrigerate and on ice from time of collection. MUST CALL prior to collection for CSF. (minimumĀ 2 mL)

Specimen Stability

  • CSF: 1 to 2 hours post collection.
