Test Summary
Elevated AFP levels have been seen not only in patients with non-seminomatous testicular cancer, but also in patients with other malignancies such as hepatocellular carcinoma, ovarian cancer, gastrointestinal cancer and pulmonary cancer. AFP is also frequently elevated in benign hepatic conditions such as acute viral hepatitis, chronic active hepatitis, and cirrhosis.
