Specimen can only be collected in physician's office due to adminsitration of Cortrosyn.
Preferred Specimen
1 mL serum collected in each of four separate red top tubes (no gel)
Minimum Volume
0.2 mL for each timed specimen
Instructions
For each timed specimen submitted, each tube must be clearly marked with time drawn. Draw morning baseline specimen. Administer 250 mcg Cortrosyn. Draw additional specimens at 15, 30 and 60 minutes.
Note: Cortrosyn (cosyntropin) not supplied by the laboratory. This test cannot be collected at a Patient Service Center.
